Happenings Here, Happenings Downtown

Alas, our material -- reviews, photos, video clips -- is accumulating, but it's taking a while to add it all to the site. That means that you might want to view the "Previous Posts" list to the right now and then for new postings. We think that it still makes more sense to keep the events chronological as opposed to when they are entered.

Meanwhile, here's a brief update on things happening here at the site and around town...

Advertising: We don't want to clutter this site with advertising, but we think that a few ads link you to complementary sites and products can't do any harm, and may just generate a few dollars to cover our expenses. We've reduced the long column of Google ads at the left with a smaller selection at the top, and cut Sony, Zip.It and other ads in favour of a link to the eMusic site. We're subscribers ourselves, so we know that the offer of 25 free songs is valid. Their selection is large (although hardly of iTunes Store scale), and subscription prices are much lower than iTunes. A basic subscription at $10/month gets you 30 songs of your choice per month. That's 1/3 of the cost of iTunes... and you don't need to have an iPod as your MP3 player (although iPods are supported too). For more detail, click the ad in the left column.

Toys: Use the Toy Box link in the navigation column too now and then. We'll be adding new features as we discover them, and think there's some pretty cool stuff already there. We especially like our new TorontoLiveClubHub ToolBar. By adding it to the top of your browser, you have instant access to any page at this site, plus other goodies like chat, internet radio, messaging, weather and search.

Indie Week: October 10-13 is Indie Week here in Toronto. $10 will get you a wrist band good for all shows October 11-13 at the six venues participating. There are 3-6 bands at each venue each night which works out to something like 75 - 100 acts. Check out the Indie Music site for the complete schedule and other details.
