Social Networking for Toronto Live! Club Hub

Although we haven't promoted this before, we do have a social networking side to Toronto Live! Club Hub.

We tried a User Forum a year or so ago, and it was a disaster... for couple of reasons:
  1. People were slow to get on board. This is normal. No one wants to be the first to comment on a topic, whether it's their own or not.
  2. Spammers were not so slow to get on board. In no time, there were penis enlargers, erectile dysfunction drugs and porno of every conceivable fashion being posted to our forum.
  3. Traditional User Forums are generally considered "old tech", even though they are most popular with "high tech" topics.
  4. There are tried and true social networking sites of all kinds that have replaced the old user forum concept.
Two of the most obvious social networking sites are MySpace and Facebook, and we want you to know, if you didn't already, that we have a presence there too. In both cases you'll already have to have your own account to access the links below. That's easy and free, and you'll probably find that most of your friends are already there.

Many bands already know that MySpace is the place to be and that http://MySpace.com/TorontoLiveClubHub gives them a great place to pitch upcoming events in the GTA, and concert-goers can throw in their opinions, media and reviews whenever they want. I guess I'm a little snobbish about accepting individual friend requests there. I want to be convinced that club goers are live music junkies like me in order to qualify. Otherwise, my "friends" are bands that I've seen and know put on a good show at Toronto's great live-music venues.

Facebook may not be so live-music oriented; but it's getting that way, especially with its events feature and a few apps for sharing musical preferences and samples.

On Facebook, I'm personally at http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=703416961 , but I want you to sign up for Toronto Live! Club Scene, the group I've formed there for TLCH discussions and shenanigans.

Don't be shy! Let's share our experiences with Toronto's awesome live music scene!

So, whether your fav social tool is Myspace or Facebook or both, come by for a visit now and then.
