Six Shooter Records NXNE BBQ Extravaganza!
While not formally part of the North by Northeast Festival, Six Shooter Records has been holding a backyard BBQ for the past 5 or 6 years on the Saturday afternoon of NXNE week. There's free food, cheap beer and soft drinks and a free 4-5 hour showcase of talent on their temporary stage. It's literally a festival within a festival, where you can even work on your tan (or in my case burn) at the same time. Everyone's friendly and there's even a mini-day care area set up for the kids.
And, who could complain about this line-up...
My biggest reservation every year is that I want to invite all my friends out so they can enjoy the experience too; but if everyone who's been there before does that, there will soon be far too many people for the space. I would say that they finally reached capacity this year. To keep a choice spot near the stage for photos, I had to forego many of the trips I would have normally made to the beer counter. Sigh!
So, it'll be interesting to see what happens next year.
